Safe Boating Classes

For 2020, because of COVID 19, the LTPO and the IDNR have made a joint decision to urge families who want to achieve their safe boating certificate to take the course online.  LTPO will not be holding face-to face classes at Patona Bay this year.

There are a couple options available to you.

Go to https://www.boat-ed.com/ and look for Indiana Safe Boating. There is no minimum age requirement to take the IDNR online course.  Studying can be at the student’s own pace; most students finish the course in just a few hours. Be aware there is a cost for the IDNR-certified course of $34.95.  Upon completing the class,  provide proof of completion (IDNR certificate) to Dan Drook ( ) for reimbursement.

Go to BoatUS Foundation’s website at https://www.boatus.org/indiana/. The BoatUS Foundation’s online course is the only free online boating safety course approved by the IDNR.

Download printed materials for boating laws and regulations.  Help is available seven days a week, by calling 800-830-2268 or 214-351-0461. Enjoy the water, feel secure that you have contributed to know the rules of boating,

Best of Success and see you on the water,
Dan Drook, Chairman of Safe Boating
